Will Wright – Game Design and Theory

This entry is part 12 of 11 in the series Book Reviews

Master Class

Review Summary

I took this class when it first came out. I’m retaking it in Q4 – 2024. I’ll be adding notes and review as I have time to work on the class. I enjoyed it the last time I took the class and I’m really enjoying it this time too. His mentality towards game design, game-play, and player communities aligns with mine. It’s all about designing a toy for the player to play with and then letting them play, letting them build content to play with, and not interfering with that play, but observing it, and then finding ways to enhance that play, and encourage creativity, connections, and community.
