This entry is part 39 of 52 in the series Artist Blog

Now you will notice a theme, here. I don’t buy the most expensive art supplies that exist. I buy what’s accessibly, and works for my project. It’s more important that I enjoy the project and I’m not afraid to use my supplies. If you don’t need $300 set of supplies, then don’t. Get the least expensive but functional supplies that you need. Then you won’t feel bad about using your supplies to practice, and to toss out pieces that don’t work. Have fun and enjoy!

Marker Storage

Went with these so I can turn them on their side. They were a little odd to put together but work really well. I’ll be hot glueing the cross sections in place, as the little nib bits on some of my markers get caught on the parts and pull the shelving apart. Amazon Link

Books!

How to Webcomic It’s a good book. I enjoyed reading it, and the information is good.

Learn World Calligraphy: Discover African, Arabic, Chinese, Ethiopic, Greek, Hebrew, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Russian, Thai, Tibetan Calligraphy, and Beyond — for making creative calligraphy in the comic, without being able to write in those languages.

Medieval Calligraphy: Its History and Technique (Lettering, Calligraphy, Typography) — To learn real historical calligraphy.
